Adding Safesorb before a procedure.

SafeSorb® is Unique:

SafeSorb® is a unique liquid waste solidifier designed specifically for use within healthcare facilities.

SafeSorb® has two primary applications: solidifying the contents of suction canisters and solidifying fluid spills.

SafeSorb is the only fluid solidifier designed to be added to a suction canister PRIOR to beginning a procedure.  When the procedure is completed, the suction canister will be solidified and an accurate reading of the fluid drawn into the canister during the procedure will be reflected on the graduated lines of the canister.  In addition, SafeSorb can be used for an extended period of time and will continue to effectively solidify liquids for up to forty-eight hours.  The benefit to a clinician is that SafeSorb can be poured into an empty suction canister prior to beginning a procedure, whether the procedure takes forty-five minutes or forty-five hours, SafeSorb will continue to work.  When the procedure is completed, simply cap the ports on the suction canister lid and dispose of the canister in accordance with your facilities’ protocol.

SafeSorb eliminates the many dangers associated with opening a suction canister after the canister is filled with contaminated waste to introduce the fluid solidifier.

Benefits of Adding a Fluid Solidifier to a Suction Canister Prior to Starting a Procedure:

  1. Once the empty suction canister is pre-loaded with SafeSorb the canister remains closed forever.
  2. Eliminates the risk of spilling the contents of the suction canister while the solidifier is poured into a contaminated suction canister.
  3. Eliminates clinician exposure to aerosolized bloodborne pathogens while pouring the solidifier into a
    contaminated suction canister.
  4. Maintains the integrity of a closed suction canister system.
  5. Eliminates the need to ‘go find’ a bottle of fluid solidifier when the procedure is completed; the canister is already solidified.
  6. All suction canisters can be pre-loaded with SafeSorb when the suction canister is initially set up.
  7. SafeSorb will solidify effectively for extended periods of time. Fluids can continue to be introduced into a suction canister for up to two days.*
  8. Not only is SafeSorb safer and easier to use than other solidifiers, it is also more cost effective.
  9. SafeSorb can also be added to the suction canister after the procedure is completed, if your facilities’ current protocol requires this method of solidification.

* If the suction canister will only be used for oral suction where a minimal volume of fluid will be introduced into the canister over an extended period of time, it is recommended that 300cc’s of saline solution be introduced into the canister upon canister set up, to allow SafeSorb to begin working.
